You Deserve a Better Relationship
What’s your relationship with food like?
For the longest time I didn’t have a good relationship with food. For a lot of my childhood and throughout my whole adolescence I was a competitive dancer💃. It wasn’t until my mid-late 20s I finally figured it out- thanks mostly in part to going back to school for nutrition and finding my passion and calling. ⠀
⠀
I learned to stop focusing on what I cannot eat or what I “should” avoid, and instead focused on WHAT to eat? What will nourish and sustain me for a few hours. What will energize me. What will boost my immunity. ⠀
⠀
There are some days where I literally feel like I don’t want anything to eat, and it’s during those times I’ll close my eyes and ask myself what is it I need? What does my body and mind need? Just the other week I did this and the answer was organic beef sausage, dark leafy greens and hummus. So that’s exactly what I ate. ⠀
⠀
My focus is on eating the most nutrient dense foods that make me feel great. When I work with clients that’s also what I focus on. So much of what we do is based around feelings. Why not eat foods that also make us feel good? (And I’m not talking about foods that temporary fill a void, or in the moment make you feel good eating it, only to guilt yourself 20 minutes later). I’m talking about whole, nutrient dense foods that energize you, lift you up, boost your immunity, and leave you feeling nourished, content and happy. ⠀
Yes, in the beginning this can be trial and error. ⠀
⠀
We spend so much of our time focused around food- celebrations, bbqs, picnics, dinners out, eating 3- meals a day, etc. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we had a great relationship with food where we treated it like a healthy relationship we have with someone in our life. ⠀
⠀
Accepting who you are, loving who you are and building a lifestyle focused on health instead of some abstract idea of “perfection” has been life changing for me. It’s completely revolutionized my relationship with food. ⠀
⠀
I encourage you to start paying attention to what foods make you feel good and let go of punishing yourself for “failing,” which is unhealthy & unproductive. Learning which foods make you feel good and which foods don’t is crucial in your healing journey.
A great way to figure out what works for YOU is doing a digestive reset for 30 days. They are full of delicious, nutrient dense foods that fuel your body and mind.
If you think it feels too restrictive or that you won’t be able to engage in social activities/events this is likely your brain giving you an emotional argument that 100% looks and feels like logic. There is usually something more to this and digging into those emotions and bringing them to the surface is SO important! What ELSE is making you uncomfortable or nervous about doing a digestive reset?
If you’re someone who experiences bloating, gas, fatigue, difficulty concentrating and memory issues, skin issues such as eczema, itchy skin, psoriasis, and acne, or depression and anxiety a digestive reset can help indicate which foods contribute to these symptoms, or are making them worse. ⠀
One of my favourite things about working with people through a digestive reset protocol is watching them re-develop their relationship with food, and learning what foods make them feel AMAZING.
This can be you too!
